Loving Provider (Prayer)

O Thou loving Provider! These souls have hearkened to the summons of the Kingdom, and have gazed upon the glory of the Sun of Truth. They have risen upward to the refreshing skies of love; they are enamored of Thy nature, and they worship Thy beauty. Unto Thee have they turned themselves, speaking together of Thee, seeking out Thy dwelling, and thirsting for the waterbrooks of Thy heavenly realm.

Thou art the Giver, the Bestower, the Ever-Loving.

‘Abdu’l-Bahá

Delia Olam BLINDFOLD original song

Here’s a song I wrote about stepping perpetually into the unknown. ie. Living. I’m still really feeling it. I was inspired by the anxieties of a friend in their ‘quarter-life crisis’ and how that resonated with my own dawning realisation that I had to discard the original plan of being a ‘child prodigy’ and go for some other version of a life… my friend and i both hoping that in discarding the original plan, we didn’t accidentally fall into making no plan and end up resenting the choices we made and destinations we attained. teasing all this apart through song, I came to my own conclusion that i was ok not knowing, because i still trust in my ongoing taste for adventure and awesomeness, so there’s no reason why i wouldn’t keep seeking that out. Also, with my eyes ‘closed’ (and not so focused on what the world was giving me) i find i can hear and feel what’s going on inside (“this universe”) a bit clearer too… xx Here’s one on the good ol’ guitar. I haven’t given up on her yet. she’s good for those more ‘anthemic’ “la la la with me!” vibes (can you hear it?)
I will be uploading at least one new original song each week, on cello, guitar, dulcimer, banjo… So if you’re liking what you hear, go ahead and subscribe! Hope you enjoy.

Also, if you’re interested, you can find my first album

Delia Olam WAKE UP SLEEPER original song, a poem by Tahirih The Pure

“Wake Up Sleeper” is one of my newest songs. The lyrics are a poem written by a mid 19th C. Persian Poetess whose really my creative (and spiritual!) muse right now, called Tahirih. She’s amazing. The music and melody are my own. This is part of a new repertoire of “Lover”-themed songs, which I’m in the process of making into an album… The Cello is a new instrument for me, i’m just trying it out; Tahirih’s poems just seemed to demand a soundscape that was a bit more freeform than the guitar was allowing me, so i had to get over my natural feeling of unworthiness before this majestic orchestral instrument and allow something simple but real to come out. I’m really enjoying it, though i know i’ve still got a bit of ‘muscle memory’ to work on. Please forgive!

(I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to upload a video… not sure this feels auspicious enough. But here goes! Less being ‘precious’, more being brave!) xx
