How Sneaking into War-Torn Syria Changed My Life | Puneh Ala’i

Puneh Ala’i, the founder of For the Unseen, a non-profit organization focused on creating sustainable solutions for the relief of human suffering, recounts her first trip to the war in Syria—and why she went. “To spread the message of one human race,” says humanitarian, Baha’i and non-profit founder Puneh Ala’i, explaining why she goes to war zones to alleviate human suffering. During her first trip to Syria, Puneh realizes that simply taking supplies and food aid to those who suffer isn’t a sustainable strategy—so she and a colleague start a school for Syrian refugee children, called Birds of Hope. Its mission? “To teach every student, even though they’ve endured psychological trauma, that they can be agents of change for something better and more positive.” Puneh says “I encourage you to live with your hearts open, to respond with love, and to actively make a difference.” Listen to the podcast on SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/bahaiteachings… Follow us on FACEBOOK: http://facebook.com/bahaiteachings.org Follow us on TWITTER: http://twitter.com/bahai_teachings Follow us on INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/bahaiteachings Visit us at: http://www.BahaiTeachings.org
