Prayer

Unite the Hearts

“O my God! O my God! Unite the hearts of Thy servants, and reveal to them Thy great purpose. May they follow Thy commandments and abide in Thy law. Help them, O God, in their endeavor, and grant them strength to serve Thee. O God! Leave them not to themselves, but guide their steps by the light of Thy knowledge, and cheer their hearts by Thy love. Verily, Thou art their Helper and their Lord.”

Baha’i Prayer – “Lauded Be Thy Name”

Read by James Hopkins

“Lauded be Thy name, O Lord my God! I entreat Thee by Thy Name through which the Hour hath struck, and the Resurrection came to pass, and fear and trembling seized all that are in heaven and all that are on earth, to rain down, out of the heaven of Thy mercy and the clouds of Thy tender compassion, what will gladden the hearts of Thy servants, who have turned towards Thee and helped Thy Cause.
Keep safe Thy servants and Thy handmaidens, O my Lord, from the darts of idle fancy and vain imaginings, and give them from the hands of Thy grace a draught of the soft-flowing waters of Thy knowledge.
Thou, truly, art the Almighty, the Most Exalted, the Ever-Forgiving, the Most Generous.”

Baha’i Prayer

He doeth as He doeth

Prayer intoned by Vahid and me in July 2013 for one of the 114 youth conferences, performed at the conference in Frankfurt, Germany.

“O thou who art turning thy face towards God! Close thine eyes to all things else, and open them to the realm of the All-Glorious. Ask whatsoever thou wishest of Him alone; seek whatsoever thou seekest from Him alone. With a look He granteth a hundred thousand hopes, with a glance He healeth a hundred thousand incurable ills, with a nod He layeth balm on every wound, with a glimpse He freeth the hearts from the shackles of grief. He doeth as He doeth, and what recourse have we? He carrieth out His Will, He ordaineth what He pleaseth. Then better for thee to bow down thy head in submission, and put thy trust in the All-Merciful Lord.”

Music: Luke Slott
Words: From the Writings of Baha’u’llah

Performed as part of a musical presentation about the Baha’i Faith by Luke Slott at the Newcastle Baha’i Centre on 9th October 2011. Recorded on a mobile phone and made available on YouTube with the kind permission of the artist.

The Words are taken from this passage:
“Sorrow not if, in these days and on this earthly plane, things contrary to your wishes have been ordained and manifested by God, for days of blissful joy, of heavenly delight, are assuredly in store for you. Worlds, holy and spiritually glorious, will be unveiled to your eyes. You are destined by Him, in this world and hereafter, to partake of their benefits, to share in their joys, and to obtain a portion of their sustaining grace. To each and every one of them you will, no doubt, attain.”

Maryam – Youth Prayer

A prayer for the youth by ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, intoned by some youth from Sydney, interpreted by me.

The recording was made at the celebration of the birth of the Báb in the Cologne Bahá’í Centre. It was also used in a film about the Bahá’í community in Cologne.

Words: ‘Abdu’l-Bahá
Music: Sydney Youth
Guitar&Vocals: Maryam Hadji
Camera: Daria Eichhöfer

“O Lord! Make this youth radiant, and confer Thy bounty upon this poor creature. Bestow upon him knowledge, grant him added strength at the break of every morn and guard him within the shelter of Thy protection so that he may be freed from error, may devote himself to the service of Thy Cause, may guide the wayward, lead the hapless, free the captives and awaken the heedless, that all may be blessed with Thy remembrance and praise. Thou art the Mighty and the Powerful.”
